Kerala Traditional kalathappam

Ingredients

Jaggery 200 gm
white rice (soaked 3 hours)
Cumin seed 1/4 tablespoon
Water
Baking soda 1/4 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Sunflower oil 3 tablespoon
Shallots(chopped finely)
Coconut (chopped)
How to make

Take 200 gm jaggery and make jaggery syrup adding 1/4 cup water .Then take soaked rice ,add 1/4 tablespoon cumin seed and water along with it.Grind it finely.Transfer the batter into a bowl.Later add 1/4 tablespoon baking soda and salt to taste.Then add jaggery syrup into the batter.After that heat a pressure cooker and add oil into it.After heating oil add shallots and coconut into it and saute well.Then spill the rice batter into the cooker.Then cover the pressure cooker with its lid and avoid the cooker whistle.Cook it for 15 minutes in low flame.Then off the flame. After some time we can open the cooker and can serve the tasty kalathappam.
