Hyderabadi Bread Pudding

Steps

1. boil 1 litre full fat milk in a hot pan
2. add 1½ tbsp butter
3. add 400 g of condensed milk
4. whisk continuously until the milk boils
5. in a bowl take 3 tbsp custard powder

6. to this add 3-4 tbsp chilled milk and mix well; mix well without lumps
7. meanwhile grease a heat-safe glass bowl with butter
8. add the custard mix to milk, as it starts to boil; continue whisking
9. add 1 tbsp vanilla essence
10. turn off the flame as milk boils and rises
11. keep aside for it to cool to room temperature

12. dice bread slices as shown
13. transfer to the greased bowl
14. take dry fruits of choice and slice them
15. add a portion of these nuts to the bowl
16. add a portion of the lukewarm milk to this bowl
17. for the second layer, add more diced bread

18. pour the remaining portion of custard milk mix
19. top up with the remaining nuts
20. preheat oven at 180°C for 5 minutes
21. bake the pudding at 180°C for 35 minutes in the preheated oven
22. Bread pudding is ready now; serve hot or chilled; chilled serving preferred
